Time Slows Down This Weekend — Maybe You Should Too

A birthday reflection, a fall joy list, and a reminder to savor the season before it slips away.

This morning, the clocks fell back — and so did I.

Not in a dramatic way. But in a quiet, “oh, maybe I needed that” kind of way.

Time is a funny thing. It speeds up, slows down, stretches, disappears… and lately, it’s made me feel a little older, a little softer, and a lot more grateful.

I recently celebrated another birthday, 36 wohooo!!!

Nothing wild, just sweet moments with my people — and a few quiet ones with myself. Reflecting on what’s changed. What I’ve grown through. What I still want.

And if I’m honest, the biggest shift this year is this:

Unlearning that rest isn’t a reward — it’s part of the rhythm. That I don’t have to rush past good moments just because something else is waiting.

The guilt doesn’t disappear overnight. But I slow down anyway — because if I don’t claim the pause, the noise will never offer one.

So in the spirit of slowing down — both for fall and for life — I made a short list of small joys I want to make time for before the season slips away. Maybe you’ll find one or two to try, too 🤎.

A Gentle Fall Joy List

  1. Open the windows and let the crisp air move through the house.

  2. Rewatch a favorite movie from years ago — no multitasking.

  3. Make one new seasonal recipe.

  4. Brew tea and actually sit while drinking it.

  5. Play music from your childhood while cleaning.

  6. Write down 3 things you’re proud of.

  7. Print photos from your phone using this little sprocket printer.

    • I use the HP Sprocket to print little memories from my camera roll — especially sweet everyday moments with my family. I originally bought mine a few years ago to make a memory book when my baby was born, and I’m still so glad I have it.

That said, it is a bit of a splurge right now (around $89.99), so if it’s not in your budget, no pressure at all. It’s just one tool that’s helped me slow down and actually see the life I’m living — not just scroll past it. Use what you have, or tuck it on a wishlist for later.

  8. Wrap up in something ridiculously cozy.

  9. Buy a fall fruit you’ve never tried

  10. Let yourself do nothing for 15 minutes and call it rest.

This list isn’t about productivity. It’s about presence.
It’s about meeting yourself where you are — not where you “should” be.

So if this weekend finds you turning back a few clocks, I hope you also take a minute to turn back to yourself. You deserve that.

With Love,
Ambyr
